It can be difficult when you start learning how to edit a page or post in WordPress. If you buy the Salient WordPress theme, add on top of that having to learn how to edit a page or post using the Visual Composer. There are five steps involved in changing a section background color in Salient.
Step 1: Login to WordPress
Login to your site at your-example-website.com/wp-login.php
Step 2: Go to the Page You want to Edit
Navigate to the page or post that you want to edit as you normally would. Then, click on the Edit Post or Edit Page link at the top of the page.
Step 3: Click on the Section Edit Icon
In order to edit the background color for different sections on the page, you want to click on the pencil icon for each of those sections or rows. For example, if the first section consists of a photo and the second section consists of about information (see screenshots of the first and second sections below). To change the background, click on the pencil icon for each section (you want to click on the grey pencil icon on the top right of the sections (NOT the pencil icons in the middle)).
Step 4: Edit the Background Color
This will open up a Row Settings popup window. Then, click on the color picker under the label called Background Color (see the screenshot below).
Click on the blue Save Changes button which closes the popup window.
Step 5: Preview and Save Changes
If you want to see how those changes impacted the site, click on the Preview changes button. If you want to publish or update the site based on your changes, click on the blue Update button (see screenshot below).
Once you change a color, you can go back and click on the pencil icon for each section to adjust the color back to what it was before (click clear to go back to previous colors).
